The "Shikara" Cushion Cover
This section of a 19th century Kashmir shawl has been recreated in 100% velvet.The term Shikara comes from the Kashmiri word for a wooden boat commonly compared to Gondolas & are popularly found on The Dal Lake in Srinagar India. A cultural symbol, they are used for multiple purposes like fishing, transport & some even as houseboats. This print was named like so to pay tribute to idea that shawls could become cushions & carry their story forward, similar to the Shikara and the many stories they ferry around.
