Baroness de Pontalba coffee mug
14 oz (420 ml) coffee mug decorated with my design that was inspired by the iron work surrounding the balconies of the de Pontalba Buildings located on Jackson Square in New Orleans, La. Built by Micaela Almonester, the Baroness de Pontalba in the late 1840's, these were among the first structures to employ the decorative wrought and cast iron galleries with which the city became identified. The Baroness had been born in New Orleans, but had spent her life in France as a very successful business person, investor, and financial manager. I hand apply the printed transfer made from my drawings and these are then fired at Cone 16 to permanently vitrify the decoration. The central cartouche in which the Baroness's initials originally were placed now displays a fleur de lis. Each mug is backstamped and numbered. Available in blue or brown.
