ARTISAN QUALITY

The recycled cast-steel Chrysanthemum leaf gently curls and holds the candleholder bowl which is made from hefty 1/8” thick steel - the leaf and bowl are welded together.

From start to finish there are over 30 different steps involved in the creation of this candleholder including the hand applied, multi-layered BRONZE finish which I achieve with professional-grade, non-toxic, paints  designed specifically for metal sculptures. They are incredibly durable, vibrant and far superior to common craft store paints.

To prepare the metal pieces, I clean them with a non-toxic degreaser, I then etch them with steel grit in a blasting cabinet which creates a more receptive surface for the hand painted finish. After blasting I wipe them clean with a soft brush, grind off any sharp edges and carefully weld the pieces together.

Paint is then applied in layers over the course of several hours - two layers of black patina are applied first and each layer is allowed to dry in between coats. I then let the paint cure for 12 hours before layering two coats of BRONZE paint, I finish the piece with subtle swipes of black patina to give the final finish depth.

The hand work involved in this piece means that no two will be identical. Please review the photos carefully, they are representative of the one you will receive.

RECYCLED CAST STEEL, REALLY?

Yes! Recycled cast steel is made from all kinds of different recycled steel pieces - imagine all the old cars, appliances and other steel “junk” that is repurposed in to something this beautiful. I love that I can incorporate recycled materials in to my designs and I hope it makes you love them even more!

USE AND CARE:

Intended for use with tea lights or votive candles, loose leaf sage, or small sticks of palo santo.

Please use the included glass votive when burning tea light candles or offerings, i
f you burn votive or small pillar candles directly in the bowl it is best to use a DRIPLESS type.

To clean, wipe with a soft cloth.

Can be used outdoors but to prevent rust, don’t let it sit out in the rain or in standing water. Under a covered patio area is ideal.

Never leave burning candles or other materials unattended.

ORDER TIME & SHIPPING:

My woman-owned & operated metal shop is located in New York, USA. This piece is HANDMADE TO ORDER which takes 3-4 business days, shipping time will add 2-5 days in the U.S. via USPS Priority Mail

International orders outside the US will be sent via Global Post.

International, transit times can take approximately 2-4 weeks or more. I ship internationally to Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the UK.

NO PLASTIC PACKAGING:

My packaging is environmentally friendly and curbside recyclable. I use recycled kraft paper for wrapping and cushioning - no styrofoam or plastic.

RETURN POLICY:

Rest assured, you will never be stuck with a Monweld piece that you don’t absolutely love.

I am happy to issue you a hassle-free, FULL REFUND within 30 days of purchase. I do ask that the buyer pay for return shipping.

ITTY BITTY BIO:

Four years ago, I left my “good desk job”, learned to weld and haven’t looked back.

I believe we are all vessels of light, creating candleholders and other tools that inspire ritual and deeper connection is an expression of my soul’s purpose and also the way I make a living - I am so grateful for your support.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or special requests, I look forward to hearing from you!

Blessings on your journey,

Monica
