To prepare the metal pieces, I clean them with a non-toxic degreaser, I then etch them with steel grit in a blasting cabinet to prepare them for the patina finish. After blasting I wipe them clean with a soft brush and grind off any sharp edges.
I then weld the forged iron quatrefoil to the 4” bowl.
The aged-iron finish on the forged quatrefoil plaque is created by blending non-toxic pigments specifically formulated for metal, it is liberally applied and left to cure for 4-6 hours. I then burnish it with sand paper to reveal silvery, steel highlights that contrast nicely with the dark, iron areas. The piece is finished with two coats of durable clear, non-toxic sealer.
The steel bowl is finished with a layered staining technique created by quickly applying the pigment and wiping it off almost immediately. It also finished with two clear coats of clear sealer.
From start to finish there are over 30 different steps involved in this piece’s creation including the hand applied, AGED IRON finish. The hand work involved in this piece means that no two will be identical. Please review the photos carefully, they are representative of the one you will receive - don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, I’m happy to help.
USE AND CARE:
Never leave burning candles or incense unattended.
When burning incense always use the included crushed stones in the bottom of the bowl and make sure the stick is completely upright.
This piece is made of forged iron and steel, both of which conduct heat - always use with safety in mind and make sure there are no flammable objects (like curtains) within 3 feet.
To clean, wipe with a dry, soft cloth.
Can be used outdoors but to prevent rust don’t let it sit out in the rain or in standing water. Under a covered patio is recommended.
ORDER TIME & SHIPPING:
My woman-owned & operated metal shop is located in New York, USA. This piece is HANDMADE TO ORDER which takes 3-4 business days, shipping time will add 2-5 days in the U.S. via USPS Priority Mail
I ship internationally to Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the UK. Because this piece weighs over 4lbs when packaged, USPS requires that this piece must be shipped via International Priority Mail.
NO PLASTIC PACKAGING:
My packaging is environmentally friendly and curbside recyclable. I use recycled kraft paper for wrapping and cushioning - no styrofoam or plastic.
Rest assured, you will never be stuck with a Monweld piece that you don’t absolutely love.
I am happy to issue you a hassle-free, FULL REFUND within 30 days of purchase. I do ask that the buyer pay for return shipping.
