An oil on (linen) canvas original painting measuring 60x60cm (23x23 inches).
This piece is inspired by a portrait of the Infanta Maria Teresa painted by the Spanish old master, Diego Velazquez, in 1653, when the sitter was about 14 years old. Her father, King Philip IV of Spain, commissioned the piece with view to finding Maria Theresa a suitable husband. In 1660 the Infanta married King Louis XIV of France and so becoming Queen of France. The marriage was negotiated with view to ending a long dispute between the two countries.
The intention of the artist is to connect with the subject, back in time and bring a fresh view of the sitter, through a more contemporary lens. The painting comes unframed so you can choose your own frame to suite your home interior. The framed image is provide as an example.
